Browns coach Pat Shurmur: rookie Jason Pinkston's status as starting LG won't be disrupted once Tony Pashos returns

Browns coach Pat Shurmur met with reporters this morning before the team practiced in preparation for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Here are some of the highlights from the news conference:

• Offensive lineman Tony Pashos will start at right tackle once he's healthy enough to play, Shurmur said. Pashos might be ready to make his 2011 regular-season debut against the Titans, but nothing is certain at this point. Pashos has been inactive in each of the first three games with a left ankle injury. He practiced Wednesday but was limited. In Pashos' absence, Artis Hicks and Oniel Cousins have rotated at right tackle. Once Pashos returns, Hicks and Cousins would be available to move to left guard, but that won't happen, Shurmur said. Rookie Jason Pinkston, who's pictured above, has played well enough to keep his job at left guard. "We won't disturb the left guard," Shurmur said.


• Linebacker Chris Gocong signed a three-year contract extension on Wednesday. "I think he's a steady guy," Shurmur said. "I've known Chris from when he was drafted in Philadelphia. He came in primarily as a pass rusher out of college and has developed into a linebacker that can play off the line of scrimmage. I think he's got very good instincts. I think he understands the game, and we feel like he's played at a high level as well. We're glad he's gonna be here for an extended period of time."


• Shurmur said there are no new injuries to report. In a rare occurrence, all of the players on the team's 53-man roster practiced in some capacity on Wednesday.


• Backup middle linebacker Titus Brown practiced Wednesday for the first time since he suffered a high-ankle sprain Aug. 25 in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. But Shurmur said Brown probably won't play against the Titans. "We haven't decided (if he'll play Sunday)," Shurmur said. "He's a guy that we'll have to decide on. There's a solid chance that he won't play, though."
