New Browns president Mike Holmgren may have completed his staff Tuesday with the hiring of Gil Haskell as his senior advisor.
Haskell coached with Holmgren for 15 seasons, including nine with the Seattle Seahawks as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Haskell also worked under Holmgren with the Green Bay Packers from 1992-97 tutoring running backs and receivers. In between those jobs, Haskell served as offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers from 1998-99.
Haskell has more than 30 years coaching experience and entered the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams in 1983, spending nine seasons there. From 1978-82, Haskell coached at USC, Holmgren's alma mater. He also coached at St. Ignatius High School in his native San Francisco for nine years, five as head coach.
Haskell's late uncle, Dr. William O’Grady, was part owner of the San Francisco 49ers and Haskell worked for the team as a youth.
