The Browns and Jason Pinkston's agents issued a joint statement this morning, explaining his absence from training camp. He has not practiced since camp started Satruday:

Joint Statement from the Cleveland Browns and Schwartz & Feinsod on his playing status:

Here is what Nate wrote Sunday about Pinkston in the Browns notebook.

Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Jason Pinkston has not been medically cleared to participate in football activities. The team has been in communication with Jason and his representatives and will respect their wishes to not provide any further details at this time.

Fourth-year guard Jason Pinkston has been absent from Browns training camp through its first two practices. Coach Mike Pettine and General Manager Ray Farmer declined to disclose the reason Sunday.

“I can assure you I’m in no legal trouble & retiring hasn’t came up,” Pinkston wrote on Twitter after Pettine and Farmer spoke to the media. “As far as my situation I’ll leave it to them to explain.”

Pettine opened his post-practice news conference by addressing the matter.

“Pinkston’s unavailable to practice, and due to the circumstances, I cannot comment on it any further,” Pettine said. “I want to give you more, but just given the circumstances, I can’t. That’s where we are with Jason.”

Pettine declined to comment on whether Pinkston’s absence is health related. Asked if Pinkston will return to the team, Pettine said, “Possibility.”

Pinkston started all 16 games at left guard as a rookie in 2011. He played in just six games the following season, missing the final 10 after a blood clot was discovered in his lung. Last season, he dealt with a high-ankle sprain and appeared in just three games.
