Browns LB D'Qwell Jackson out for the season; DL Shaun Rogers, WR Brian Robiskie won't play today

On the eve of their game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Browns placed linebacker D'Qwell Jackson on injured reserve after he aggravated a previous pectoral muscle injury during practice Thursday. He will miss the entire season.

Jackson injured his chest Aug. 10 in training camp. He missed most of training camp, the entire preseason and the Browns' first two regular-season games.

In an attempt to come back, he started practicing again on Sept. 17. This past Wednesday, he practiced for the first time in pads. On Thursday, he was hurt again, but he said his chest just felt "tight" and "fatigued." He was convinced he'd be back to practice this week, but he must have learned the "tightness" was more serious than he originally thought.

Jackson tore his other pec last season against the Pittsburgh Steelers and missed the final 10 games of the regular  season. He hasn't played in a regular-season game since Oct. 18, 2009, and with trips to the IR in consecutive years, his career seems to be in doubt.

With Jackson sidelined for the season, the Browns filled his roster spot by signing wide receiver Sam Aiken, whom the New England Patriots released on Sept. 4.

Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft, Aiken has appeared in 92 games with 11 starts during his seven-year NFL career, recording 47 receptions for 677 yards and two touchdowns. After spending his first five seasons with the Bills, Aiken signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Patriots. In 2009, he had 20 receptions for 326 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots.

In addition to their roster moves, the Browns downgraded defensive lineman Shaun Rogers (ankle, hip) and wide receiver Brian Robiskie (hamstring) and to out for today's game. Wide receiver Josh Cribbs (ankle) was downgraded from probable  to questionable.
