The Browns placed linebacker Kaluka Maiava on injured reserve and re-signed linebacker Titus Brown off the Denver Broncos’ practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
Maiava, a fourth-round pick (104th overall) in the 2009 draft, suffered a season-ending right knee injury in the second quarter Sunday while he was covering a kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs. Maiava walked off the field with help from members of the Browns' medical staff and did not return. The team did not provide any details on his injury.
Last season, Maiava started in three of the 16 games in which he played. He compiled 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Brown joined the Broncos after he was waived by the Browns on Sept. 9. During the past two seasons, Brown played in five games for Cleveland and spent time on its practice squad.
