Browns lineman Pashos boycotts BP

By Nate Ulrich Published: June 9, 2010

I recently interviewed Tony Pashos for a story about his attempt to win a starting job on the right side of the Browns' offensive line.

I didn't include this part of our conversation in the story, but I thought it was a noteworthy item for this space. While talking about encountering Browns fans as he runs errands at grocery stores and gas stations, Pashos spoke out against BP and said he's boycotting it because of the Gulf oil spill.

"I'm just disgusted," Pashos said. "Oh my God. I wasn't gonna boycott, but I mean I go to pump gas there and am like, 'Man, this is just mishandled. This is bad.' I'm like, 'Oh my God. I'll go somewhere else.'"

Pashos obviously pays attention to current events, and he's not afraid to speak honestly about his opinions. In this era, the same can't be said about all professional athletes.
