The Browns signed fullback Eddie Williams to their practice squad today, the team announced. Williams replaces fullback Tyler Clutts, who was signed to the Chicago Bears' 53-man roster.
The 6-foot-1, 242-pound Williams was drafted by Washington Redskins in the seventh round (221stoverall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played wide receiver at the University of Idaho.
He spent the first seven weeks of the season on the Redskins' practice squad before being promoted to the 53-man roster on Nov. 2, 2009. He was inactive for three games before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 24. Williams was later waived by the Redskins and signed by the Bears. He spent the entire 2010 season on their practice squad and was with them through training camp this summer.
