By Nate Ulrich Published: July 31, 2011

Browns coach Pat Shurmur met with reporters this morning following the second practice of training camp. Here is a transcript from the news conference:

(Opening statement)- “I think the practice was good.  It was the second installation, the second practice.  The guys pushed through it.  As I said yesterday, they’re trying to practice at a high tempo and practice fast.  I felt there were a few mistakes, but everything’s correctable.  As we go through this, the players will lift, do their autographs and we have a thing called stability school that we work on.  Then they’ll get lunch.  We’re going to have a meeting and go over everything we did in practice and then come out this afternoon and do a walk through. As far as through the process, I feel good about day two although there’s a lot left to do today.”

Transcript from news conference with Browns coach Pat Shurmur

By Nate Ulrich Published: July 30, 2011

Browns coach Pat Shurmur met with reporters this afternoon following the first practice of training camp. It was also Shurmur's first practice as a head coach on any level. Here is a transcript from the news conference:

(Opening statement)- “It’s fun to finally be back out here, playing and coaching is what players and coaches do and it was fun to get out here and work with the players.  For our first day I think it went fairly well, we didn’t jump offsides a bunch, we were generally in the right formations, pretty decent execution on both sides. There’s plenty of things we have to clean up, but the tempo, some of the things we were demanding for them to do on how to practice they’re getting use too because they’re kind of just knocking the rust off just like we are as coaches.  I think it’s a good first day, a good start, but we’ve got a long way to go before we get where we want to be.”

Video and transcript: Browns President Mike Holmgren says new labor deal must be 'win-win' for players and owners

By Nate Ulrich Published: July 23, 2011

Browns President Mike Holmgren discussed the NFL's labor dispute with reporters -- and later with fans -- after participating in the Cleveland Browns Motorcycle Rally today. Here are some of the highlights from Holmgren's chat with media:

On the status of the NFL's labor situation after the owners approved a proposed collective bargaining agreement Thursday: "I was in Atlanta with (Browns owner) Randy Lerner when we voted to accept the contract. (I'm) very excited that we got to do that. Now I'm very optimistic that the players will look this (deal) over and then accept it, and then we start playing football. That's my hope. I really kind of understand why they want to take their time and make sure they understand it. That's what they should do. But I know they want to play. I know the fans want us to play. So we're real close, and I hope it happens in the next couple days."
