Browns cornerback Joe Haden is listed 39th on NFL Network’s The Top 100 Players of 2014.
Players vote to form the list.
Haden’s ranking was revealed tonight as players listed Nos. 31-40 were unveiled. It’s the first time Haden has made the list. He’s coming off a season in which he earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl and second-team All Pro honors.
Haden probably believes he deserves a better ranking because he thinks he’s the best cornerback in the league. He made that clear shortly after he signed a five-year contract extension worth $68 million last month.
“I rank myself at one [among cornerbacks],” Haden said last month during NFL Network's Total Access. “I'm going to keep grinding like I'm No. 1. I feel like in my heart I'm the No. 1 corner in the league. I've been feeling like that for a while. I follow the No. 1 receiver for every team that we've been playing against, and I just like to do that. That's just the way that I've been able to try to prove it.”
But Haden isn’t even the highest-rated cornerback on NFL Network’s The Top 100 Players of 2014. New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis is No. 37. According to NFL Network, two other cornerbacks -- presumably the Seattle Seahawks' Richard Sherman and the Arizona Cardinals' Patrick Peterson -- also have better rankings, though their place on the list has yet to be revealed.
