Browns QB Jason Campbell practices for second consecutive day, Brandon Weeden still out

By Nate Ulrich Published: December 6, 2013

Browns quarterback Jason Campbell took the first reps during individual drills for the second consecutive day after being cleared to practice earlier this week.

It’s a sign that Campbell is likely on track to start Sunday when the Browns (4-8) visit the New England Patriots (9-3). Campbell suffered a concussion Nov. 24 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and didn’t resume practicing until Thursday.

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski is expected to reveal whether an independent neurologist has cleared Campbell for the game when practice concludes at about 12:30 p.m. today. Campbell is also scheduled to speak to reporters after practice.

In the event Campbell cannot play, Caleb Hanie or Alex Tanney would start against the Patriots. The Browns signed Hanie off the street Tuesday and Tanney off the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad Nov. 26.

Quarterback Brandon Weeden remained idle today after suffering a concussion this past weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars, meaning he’ll likely be ruled out for Sunday. He is the only player on the Browns’ active roster who didn’t practice today.
