The Browns signed veteran wide receiver Bobby Engram, the team announced Thursday.
Engram's one-year deal is worth a base salary of $855,000, according to the NFL Players Association. Engram did not receive a signing bonus, a league source said.
Engram, 37, has started 113 of the 176 games in which he has played during his 14-year professional career. He has compiled 650 career receptions for 7,751 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns.
Engram was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round (52nd overall) of the 1996 draft. He played with the Bears before moving on to the Seattle Seahawks (2001-08) and the Kansas City Chiefs (2009). His most productive season came in 2007, when he had 94 catches for 1,147 yards and six touchdowns.
