The Browns have acquired offensive lineman John Greco in a trade with the St. Louis Rams, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported tonight.
The terms of the trade were undisclosed, and neither the Browns nor the Rams have announced the move.
Greco, a graduate of Boardman High School near Youngstown who played at the University of Toledo, is a 6-foot-4, 315-pound guard. The Rams drafted Greco in the third round (65th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. In three seasons, he has played in 26 games and started four of them.
The Browns could use depth at guard because Eric Steinbach showed up this morning to the team's first practice of training camp with a left knee injury. Meanwhile, unrestricted free agent Floyd Womack, who started 12 games at right guard for the Browns last season, has signed a deal with the Arizona Cardinals, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reported.
Greco, 26, obviously has ties to Browns coach Pat Shurmur, who served as the Rams' offensive coordinator during the past two seasons.
