Browns sign four players: TEs Kyle Auffray and Martell Webb, LB Keith Pough, WR Tim Smith

The Browns waived defensive back Darwin Cook and signed tight ends Kyle Auffray and Martell Webb, linebacker Keith Pough and wide receiver Tim Smith, the team announced Tuesday.

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday signed TE Kyle Auffray, LB Keith Pough, WR Tim Smith and TE Martell Webb. General Manager Ray Farmer made the announcement.

Auffray is 6-4, 250 pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of New Hampshire. Originally signed by Arizona as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Auffray spent a portion of the 2013 offseason with the Cardinals and a portion of the 2014 offseason with the Patriots. He began his college career as a quarterback at Mississippi State before transferring to New Hampshire where he started at tight end and punter. A native of Cornwall, N.Y., Auffray graduated from Cornwall High School.

Pough is 6-2, 236 pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of Howard. He was originally signed by Buffalo as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and was waived during final roster cuts that year. At South Carolina, Pough set the FCS all-time record for tackles for loss. A native of Orangeburg, S.C., Pough graduated from 

Scott’s Branch High School.

Smith is a 5-11, 200 pound rookie out of Virginia. With the Cavaliers, he appeared in 47 games and totaled 97 receptions for 1,591 yards and 10 touchdowns. A native of Chesapeake, Va., Smith graduated from Oscar Smith High School.

Webb is 6-3, 270 pounds and officially in his first NFL season out of Michigan. Originally signed by Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent in 2011, Webb has spent time on the practice squads of the New York Jets (2011), Tampa Bay (2011), Indianapolis (2012), Tennessee (2012) and Detroit (2013). Webb appeared in 38 with the Wolverines, where he was utilized mostly as a blocking tight end but added nine receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns. A native of Pontiac, Mich., Webb graduated from Northern High School.

The Browns roster is currently at 90 players.
