The Browns signed running back Adonis Thomas, an undrafted rookie from Toledo, and linebacker JoJo Dickson, who spent training camp last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced today.
The Browns also waived running back Armond Smith and placed linebacker Andrew Sweat on the reserve/retired list. Smith appeared in three games last season. Sweat recently signed as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State but decided not to pursue a career in the NFL.
The Browns signed sixth-round pick Emmanuel Acho, a linebacker from Texas, to his rookie contract, the team announced. Scout.com previously reported the move.
Running back Trent Richardson and quarterback Brandon Weeden are the only two rookie draft picks who have not yet signed with the Browns.
Thomas participated in the Browns' rookie minicamp this past weekend on a tryout basis. He had 2,551 career rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns at Toledo.
Dickson was signed last year by the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent from Idaho. He was waived before the start of the 2011 season. He recorded 182 career tackles, three sacks, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in 41 collegiate games.
