The Browns signed free agent wide receiver Naaman Roosevelt, the team announced today.
The 6-foot, 200-pound Roosevelt has appeared in 16 NFL games, all with the Buffalo Bills.
With Josh Gordon suspended the first two games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy and David Nelson starting training camp on the active physically unable to perform list as he attempts to come back from a season-ending knee injury suffered last year, Roosevelt will receive a chance to show he’s capable of providing quality depth.
Roosevelt, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent from University at Buffalo in 2010, has recorded 25 career receptions for 396 yards with one touchdown. In 2011, he appeared in 10 games and set career highs with 16 receptions for 257 yards with one touchdown. He spent training camp with the Bills last year before being cut and sitting out the entire season.
In college, Roosevelt set school records in receptions (268), receiving yards (3,551), touchdown catches (28) and all-purpose yards (5,341).
