Browns strong safety T.J. Ward is expected to be out four to six weeks with his injured right foot, a league source confirmed.
Ward said he felt a pop in the arch of his foot this past Sunday against the Houston Texans. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Ward has a cast on his foot.
Safety Usama Young is expected to start in place of Ward beginning Sunday when the Browns (3-5) host the St. Louis Rams (1-7).
"He's a good player," Young said of Ward. "So I know that I'm gonna have to play well."
Ward has been solid in his second professional season. He has started every game and compiled 38 tackles, one sack, three passes defensed and a forced fumble.
