Browns trade SS David Sims to Eagles
The Browns have traded strong safety David Sims to the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional 2013 draft pick, the Eagles announced tonight.
Sims' agent, Malik Shareef, first announced the trade tonight via Twitter. In an e-mail to the Beacon Journal, Shareef said he was under the impression Sims was cut until the Browns contacted him at about 9 tonight to pass along word of the trade.
The Browns have yet to announce the move.
Sims spent the final five weeks of the 2011 season on the Browns' practice squad. He had a stellar preseason this summer, compiling two interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown.
"One door closes, another open!" Sims tweeted. "Headed to the Eagles!"
