Browns training camp: Safety T.J. Ward says he 'should be back soon' from sore hamstring

Browns strong safety T.J. Ward sat out practice the past two days with a sore hamstring, but he said he “definitely” expects to play in the preseason opener Thursday against the visiting St. Louis Rams.

The Browns held a walk-through session this morning to prepare for their Family Night practice that will run from 6:30-9 tonight at FirstEnergy Stadium. Ward, rookie safety Jamoris Slaughter (hamstring) and cornerback Trevin Wade (unknown) did stretching exercises on the field following the walk through while running back Montario Hardesty (hamstring) and wide receiver David Nelson (knee) jogged.

Ward was limited in practice Wednesday and sidelined Thursday and Friday. Undrafted rookie Josh Aubrey took his place with the first-team defense.

“I’m good, getting better,” Ward said. “It’s just a precautionary issue right now, but I should be back soon.”

When asked how he injured his hamstring Ward said, “I didn’t really injure it. It was kind of sore throughout the week, and I don’t want to injure it anymore.”
