The Browns continued to search for a kicker by working out Derek Dimke and Thomas Weber today at their training facility in Berea, a league source told the Beacon Journal.

A signing is not anticipated, the source said.

In the aftermath of Pro Bowler Phil Dawson’s departure, the Browns don’t have a kicker on their roster. Last week, Dawson, 38, signed a one-year deal reportedly worth $2.25 million with the San Francisco 49ers.

Dimke, 22, joined the Detroit Lions last year as an undrafted free agent from the University of Illinois. Dimke made 2-of-2 field goals (40 and 31 yards) and 3-of-3 extra points in three preseason games before being cut Aug. 27.

Weber, 25, was with the Cincinnati Bengals in each of the past two preseasons. Weber, a product of Arizona State University, was cut Aug. 17 after missing both of his field-goal attempts (37 and 47 yards) in two exhibition games.

The Browns also worked out Internet trick-kicking sensation Havard Rugland of Norway last week. But it’s unlikely they’ll sign Rugland, whose nickname is “Kickalicious.”
