Skirting the Browns' public relations department, Browns Pro Bowl return man Joshua Cribbs has called his own press conference for 5 p.m. Friday at the Greater Cleveland Auto Show at the International Exposition Center.
There has been no indication whether the former Kent State quarterback will announce that he's accepted the Browns' contract offer. Cribbs' agents have been renegotiating his deal that still has three years remaining and the two sides have reportedly been close for days.
Cribbs is scheduled to sign autographs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the auto show's Hyundai exhibit.
''It’s not very often that fans get to hear an announcement from a player in person,'' Cribbs said in a press release. ''And it’s even more unlikely that they’re given a chance to speak to that player right after that announcement has been made.
''That’s why I’m choosing to have this press conference at the auto show. So that anyone in attendance will have the opportunity to hear what I have to say and the chance to speak with me about it in person.''
The press conference will also be held at the Hyundai display.
