Harlem Globetrotters draft Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel

By Dan Kadar Published: June 24, 2014

Add basketball to the growing list of sports in which Johnny Manziel has been drafted.

The Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback was drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters today after being selected in the MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres earlier this month.

"Johnny Manziel is a fantastic athlete that knows how to be entertaining," Globetrotters Director of Player Personnel "Sweet" Lou Dunbar said in a release. "‘Johnny Basketball’ has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

The Globetrotters are known for giving their players nicknames, like "Big Easy" Lofton or William "Bull" Bullard. The nickname "Johnny Globetrotter" could be a fitting one to match Manziel's jetsetter lifestyle.

The team even made a No. 2 jersey for Manziel, and announced six other choices. Among them is soccer star Landon Donovan and the brothers of possible Cleveland Cavaliers No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins.

Manziel has been known to dunk a basketball, as he showed earlier this year:
