Highlights from press conference with Browns coach Eric Mangini
Browns coach Eric Mangini met with reporters Thursday morning. Here are some of the highlights from the press conference:
- Mangini said the same players who missed practice yesterday will miss today. They are quarterback Jake Delhomme (ankle), running back Jerome Harrison (thigh), offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao (ankle), tight end Evan Moore (head), defensive back Derrick Roberson (hip), wide receiver Brian Robiskie (hamstring) and defensive linemen Shaun Rogers (ankle, hip) and Robaire Smith (ankle). In addition, linebacker Marcus Benard will also sit out today with an ankle injury, Mangini said.
- Mangini said he hopes a group of those injured players will return to practice Friday.
- Mangini on linebacker D'Qwell Jackson's progress: "If he can play, I would imagine him being in packages as opposed to being in 65 plays." On Wednesday, Jackson practiced in full pads for the first time since he suffered a pectoral muscle injury during training camp on Aug. 10.
- Mangini on his young players having to deal with the intimidating presence of the Baltimore Ravens: "Some of our young guys have probably been Ray Lewis on PlayStation. That's their only exposure to him."
