Highlights from press conference with Browns coach Eric Mangini
Browns coach Eric Mangini met with reporters Thursday morning. Here are some of the highlights from the press conference:
- Mangini said rookie Colt McCoy will be the Browns' starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Mangini said he thinks McCoy's left ankle is back to full strength, and he wanted to give McCoy the opportunity to start because he has earned it. Jake Delhomme couldn't have been more professional and more supportive of the decision to go with McCoy, Mangini said.
- Mangini said choosing the backup quarterback is still a work in progress. He will decide between Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.
- Mangini said tight end Evan Moore (hip), linebacker David Bowens (head) and linebacker Scott Fujita (knee) will miss practice today. Mangini said he's optimistic Moore and Bowens will return to action soon. He also confirmed Bowens suffered a concussion this past Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
- Mangini said linebacker Marcus Benard (shoulder) and fullback Lawrence Vickers (shoulder, hamstring) will return to practice today after missing action Wednesday.
