Kickoff for Browns' game against Oakland Raiders on Dec. 2 pushed back 10 minutes
The NFL announced today that kickoff times for Sunday late-afternoon doubleheader games on CBS and FOX will be pushed back from 4:15 p.m. to 4:25 p.m.
For now, only one game on the Browns’ schedule is affected by the change. Kickoff for the Browns’ road game Dec. 2 against the Oakland Raiders will be moved from 4:15 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. The game is set to be televised on CBS.
The NFL stated it made the change to reduce instances in which the telecasts of 1 p.m. games overlap with those of 4:15 p.m. games. The league said research from the 2009-11 seasons shows that 44 games required part of the audience to be switched to a mandatory doubleheader game kickoff. With a 4:25 p.m. kickoff time, that number would have been reduced by 66 percent to only 15 games, according to the NFL.
