LB D'Qwell Jackson cancels appearance tonight at Akron Browns Backers banquet
Browns linebacker D’Qwell Jackson has canceled his plans to attend the 33rd annual Akron Browns Backers banquet tonight at Tangier restaurant.
Jackson previously committed to attend the event, but his back stiffened and will require extra treatment tonight as he tries to get ready for an organized team activity practice on Tuesday, a team spokesman said. Jackson apologized through the spokesman.
Jackson was set to be honored as the 2011 player of the year selected by the Pro Football Writers of America. Offensive lineman Joe Thomas also committed to attend the banquet and receive the 2010 Dino Lucarelli Good Guy Award, but he canceled earlier this month, citing a scheduling conflict.
Browns General Manager Tom Heckert is still scheduled to be the featured speaker at the banquet.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m.
