Mangini repeats history
While Browns coach Eric Mangini's role has diminished with the arrival of president Mike Holmgren and general manager Tom Heckert, Thursday's selection of Florida cornerback Joe Haden followed in the blueprint Mangini used when he coached the New York Jets.
In Mangini's first draft, he took Ohio State center Nick Mangold in the first round. He followed that formula to grab Cal center Alex Mack last year with the Browns.
In Mangini's second draft with the Jets, he took Pitt cornerback Darrelle Revis, now considered one of the top two cornerbacks in the league, 14th overall in 2007. Haden was tabbed No. 7.
