The NFL is investigating the alleged incident involving Browns receiver Braylon Edwards early Monday morning outside a Cleveland nightclub for a possible violation of its personal conduct policy.
Edwards is accused of punching Edward Givens, a local promoter and close friend of Cavs' star LeBron James, outside the View Ultralounge and Nightclub about 2:30 a.m.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said, ''We are looking into it to understand the facts. It is premature to speculate on any outcome.''
Browns coach Eric Mangini said Monday he had spoken to Edwards and that the team was also investigating the incident. Even if Edwards is not charged, Edwards could be subject to a fine or suspension by the league for violating the personal conduct policy.
