Practice notes: Rookie safety Eric Hagg works with first-team defense
The Browns (3-5) practiced today in preparation for their home game Sunday against the St. Louis Rams (1-7). Reporters were allowed to watch about 30 minutes of practice. Here's what you need to know about the open session:
- With safeties T.J. Ward (foot) and Usama Young (hip) sidelined, rookie strong safety Eric Hagg worked with the first-team defense. Hagg, a seventh-round draft pick, practiced alongside starting free safety Mike Adams.
- Running backs Peyton Hillis (hamstring) and Montario Hardesty (calf), wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi (head), cornerback Dimitri Patterson (knee) and defensive end Auston English (knee) also missed practice. Young and Patterson watched from the sideline.
- Offensive lineman Artis Hicks practiced at right tackle with the first-team offense. Starting right tackle Tony Pashos (foot, ankle) practiced but was limited.
- Strong safety Ray Ventrone (hamstring) and linebacker Kaluka Maiava (knee) practiced. Punter Brad Maynard (leg) stretched on the field.
