Practice notes: Three newcomers begin working with Browns
The Browns practiced this afternoon in preparation for their road game Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Reporters were allowed to watch about 20 minutes of practice. Here is what you need to know about the open period:
- Punter Brad Maynard (No. 7) and two practice-squad players, running back Xavier Omon (No. 33) and fullback Will Ta'ufo'ou (No. 44), participated in practice. The Browns signed Maynard on Tuesday to replace Richmond McGee, who's out for the season with a back injury. Omon and Ta'ufo'ou have filled the spots on the practice squad vacated by running back Quinn Porter and fullback Eddie Williams. The St. Louis Rams signed Porter, and the Seattle Seahawks signed Williams.
- Offensive lineman Tony Pashos (sore left foot) was not on field. Oniel Cousins and Artis Hicks continued to work at right tackle.
- Cornerback Dimitri Patterson practiced despite a sprained right ankle he aggravated this past Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Patterson suffered the injury during training camp.
- Strong safety Eric Hagg (knee) and linebacker Titus Brown (ankle) were on the field working out on exercise bikes.
