Report: Players filing fine grievances
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that five Browns have filed or are in the process of filing grievances against fines levied by coach Eric Mangini.
According to Schefter, who cited a league source, two grievances have been filed with the NFL Players Association and three more are being prepared.
Reports surfaced last weekend that one player had been fined $1,701 for failing to pay for a $3 bottle of water on a preseason road trip.
Mangini defended his fine policy last week, saying he expected players to pay for incidentals and not take staffers' parking spots. Mangini said his rules were fully spelled out when he arrived.
According to Schefter's report, multiple Jets filed grievances against Mangini during his three years there, but Mangini has said he won each of those grievances.
