Ryan says Graham missed OT field goal

Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said Friday that Bengals' kicker Shayne Graham missed the 31-yard game-winning field goal that gave Cincinnati a 23-20 overtime victory Sunday.

When asked how Wednesday's trade of receiver Braylon Edwards would affect the team, Ryan answered, ''I thought you were talking about that missed field goal. Did I say that out loud? Somebody research it, I never said anything. That is disappointing.''

Asked about it again later, Ryan said, ''You can watch the tape, that would be great. I'm not saying anything, but man, maybe the posts were crooked. I don't want to get fined, I pay enough money already for a house I don't even live in in California. But really, you guys look at it.''

The NFL has, according to league spokesman Greg Aiello.

"The field judge standing right underneath the upright called it good and we have reviewed multiple video from different angles and have seen nothing to dispute the call," Aiello said via email Friday.

Ryan is not the first from the Browns to question the kick. Edwards mentioned in Sunday and cornerback Brandon McDonald said the same Monday.

''From the sideline it looked like it went wide right,'' Edwards said after the game.

''They made the call, there was nothing we could do about it,'' McDonald said Monday. ''But from my angle, I thought for sure that he missed it.

''It didn't look like it went through, but at the same time we can't control the call they made. It's over now.''

A video on YouTube taken from the Dawg Pound end zone appears to confirm the Browns' claim. On that video, McDonald and cornerback Eric Wright are seen signaling no good.

In another league matter, a spokesman said neither Edwards nor linebacker Alex Hall were fined for altercations during the Bengals' game. Edwards appeared to punch defensive tackle Pat Sims, with both drawing unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, while offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth accused Hall of dirty play worthy of a hefty fine.

"Their guy smoked me pretty good from behind after the play,'' Whitworth said Sunday. "The ref said he didn't see it because he was spotting the ball. I'm sure if it's on videotape it will be a hefty one.''
