St. Clair visiting Cleveland
Chicago Bears free agent offensive lineman John St. Clair is visiting the Browns Monday, his agent Ben Dogra confirmed.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bears offered nine-year veteran St. Clair a three-year, $4.5 million contract two weeks before free agency began and Dogra responded with a counter-offer.
St. Clair, 31, has made 19 consecutive starts, 16 last season at left tackle. He has played for the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins and Chicago.
St. Clair, 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, could fill the hole at right tackle after the Browns' release of Kevin Shaffer last week, leaving the returning Ryan Tucker to play right guard. The Browns also signed veteran lineman Floyd ''Pork Chop'' Womack Friday.
