Tracking the Browns' undrafted free agent signings
The Browns were allowed to begin signing undrafted rookies at 10 a.m. today. As part of the new labor deal, training camp rosters can have a maximum of 90 players, so expect plenty of undrafted free agent signings.
The Browns have not announced any names yet, but a team spokesman said they had agreed to terms with 22 as of Tuesday evening. Not all of the names have surfaced, but here's a list of the undrafted rookies with whom the Browns have reportedly agreed to deals:
- Missouri cornerback Carl Gettis: He started all 13 games last season and compiled 48 tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. Gettis posted the following messages on Twitter late Monday night: "It's official Cleveland Browns here I come the opportunity of a life time. ... Thanks to everyone who is wishing me well I really appreciate all the support [just] happy to be apart of an [organization]."
- Notre Dame linebacker Brian Smith: He played in 13 games last season, recording 50 tackles, one sack, an interception and a fumble recovery.
- Maryland linebacker Alex Wujciak: He started all 13 games last season, earning a team-high 117 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
- Tennessee State linebacker Sidney Tarver: He started all 11 games last season and finished with 62 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
- Georgetown College defensive lineman Kyle Anderson: He played in eight of 11 games last season and finished with 32 tackles, two sacks and one interception.
- Western Michigan wide receiver Juan Nunez: He played in all 12 games last season with 11 starts. He had 91 catches for 1,032 yards and 10 touchdowns.
- Kentucky wide receiver Chris Matthews: He played in all 13 games, racking up 61 catches for 925 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns.
- UTEP running back Donald Buckram: He played in eight of 13 games with six starts last season. He had 81 carries for 335 yards (4.1 average) and one touchdown.
- Hillsdale quarterback Troy Weatherhead: He started all 12 games, completing 279-of363 passes for 3,215 yards and 26 touchdowns with six interceptions. He was the backup quarterback for the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League.
- Appalachian State defensive lineman Jabari Fletcher: He played in all 13 games, recording 60 tackles, including 16.5 for loss, nine sacks, one interception and three forced fumbles.
- Oregon State cornerback James Dockery: He started all 12 games last season and compiled 56 tackles and four interceptions.
- Minnesota offensive lineman Dominic Alford: He played in nine of 12 games last season with two starts. A graduate of Shaker Heights High School, he played right and left tackle throughout his career.
- Delaware State defensive lineman Andre Carroll: He played in all 11 games last season, recording 96 tackles, including 13.5 for loss, four sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
- Tennessee offensive lineman Jarrod Shaw: He started all 13 games last season at left guard. He also played for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League.
- Delta State wide receiver L.J. Castile: He played in all 15 games last season, catching 67 passes for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns. He played for the New Orleans VooDoo of the AFL.
- Omaha Nighthawks (UFL) kicker Jeff Wolfert: He was Missouri's starting kicker from 2006-08.
- TCU tight end Evan Frosch: He played in all 13 games last season, recording two catches for 42 yards.
- Cal cornerback Darian Hagan: He played in 11 of 12 games with nine starts last season, compiling 38 tackles, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
