Browns rookie tight end David Njoku signed his four-year rookie contract Thursday.

The deal is projected to be worth $9.525 million and include a signing bonus of $5.067 million, according to the contract website Spotrac.com. The contract contains a team option for a fifth year.

Browns No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett not practicing Thursday, injured foot still being evaluated

Click the link for an updated version of this story: Browns mum about Myles Garrett’s foot injury that forced No. 1 pick to sit out final practice of mandatory minicamp

Browns No. 1 overall draft pick Myles Garrett is sitting out practice Thursday as he's still being evaluated at team headquarters in Berea after suffering an injured left foot Wednesday during mandatory minicamp, a team spokesman said.

The Browns consider it a good sign that Garrett walked off the field Wednesday, meaning they probably think the rookie defensive end avoided the dreaded Lisfranc injury.

Guards Joel Bitonio and John Greco suffered Lisfranc injuries last season. The injury requires surgery and typically sidelines NFL players for 10-12 months.

Browns sign QB DeShone Kizer to rookie contract

By Nate Ulrich Published: June 14, 2017

Browns rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer signed his four-year rookie contract Wednesday.

The deal is projected to be worth $4.948 million and include a signing bonus of $1.738 million, according to the contract website Spotrac.com.

This has been a good week for Kizer, a second-round draft pick (No. 52 overall) from Notre Dame. In addition to finalizing his contract, he split first-team repetitions with quarterback Cody Kessler on Tuesday during the first practice of mandatory minicamp.

The Browns have signed eight of their 10 picks from this year's draft: Kizer, defensive end Myles Garrett (first, No. 1 overall), defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (third), cornerback Howard Wilson (fourth), offensive tackle Rod Johnson (fifth), defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (sixth), kicker Zane Gonzalez (seventh) and running back Matthew Dayes (seventh).

They have yet to sign strong safety Jabrill Peppers (first, No. 25) and tight end David Njoku (first, No. 29).

Browns waive Bedford native, former Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell

By Nate Ulrich Published: June 9, 2017

Tyvis Powell dreamed of playing for his hometown Browns and thought it would happen this fall.

But the Browns waived the Bedford native and Ohio State product on Friday afternoon. He worked as a backup free safety throughout organized team activities, which wrapped up this week.

The timing of the move was awkward because Powell was scheduled to throw out the first pitch before the Indians' game Friday night at Progressive Field. The Browns didn't know Powell was set to throw out the first pitch when they cut him, a team spokesman said. Regardless, Powell followed through with his plan to throw out the first pitch.

"When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal, you do not change your decision to get there," Powell wrote on Twitter.

Powell, 23, joined the Browns on Feb. 6 when they claimed him off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks.

By Nate Ulrich Published: June 7, 2017

The thought of Jay Z and Beyonce attending Browns games might not be far-fetched.

That's because Browns coach Hue Jackson is now represented by Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports. ESPN first reported the move Wednesday.

Jackson's agent is still John Thornton, but Thornton left Octagon and joined Roc Nation Sports. And Jackson has officially followed Thornton to his new firm.

Jackson is the first coach to be represented by Jay Z's 4-year-old sports agency.

The Browns signed Terrence Magee and waived fellow running back Darius Jackson with an injury designation on Thursday.

Jackson suffered a knee injury.

Magee, 5-foot-9 and 220 pounds, entered the NFL in 2015 when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent from Louisiana State, where he rushed for 1,330 career yards and 12 touchdowns.

He has appeared in six regular-season NFL games, rushing twice for 5 yards with the Ravens in 2015 and running three times for 12 yards with the Seattle Seahawks last season.

Magee, 24, spent seven on weeks on the Browns' practice squad last season before the Seahawks signed him to their active roster.
