Cavs 137, Warriors 116: Marla's 38 shots from Beyond the Arc on a phantom ejection & 'chatter'

By Marla Ridenour Published: June 10, 2017

Notes, quotes and observations after the Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors 137-116 in Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Quicken Loans Arena. While ending the Warriors’ undefeated playoff run, the defending champion Cavs take a 3-1 deficit (the same as they faced a year ago) into Game 5 Monday at Oracle Arena.

1. First the question everyone wants answered: How could Draymond Green be ejected, and then not be ejected?

2. The Warriors' Green was originally called for a technical foul with 1:55 left in the first quarter following his loose ball foul. Warriors coach Steve Kerr could be seen on the scoreboard yelling at an official, “What are you calling?”

3. When Green was called for his second technical after being whistled for a foul with 6:18 left in the third quarter, the public address announcer said Green had been ejected and “Hit the road, Jack,” played throughout the arena. But Green remained on the court, the officiating crew congregated, and it was determined that the first technical had been on Kerr. Neither the fans nor the media got an explanation.

LeBron James reveals in video that his wife, mother didn't want him to return to Cavs

By Marla Ridenour Published: June 9, 2017

LeBron James’ mother Gloria James and his wife Savannah did not want him to return to Cleveland in the summer of 2014, James revealed in his latest “UNINTERRUPTED” video production released Friday morning.

With the Cavs down 3-0 and set to host the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of the NBA Finals Friday night, James spoke of how his family took offense to Cavs owner Dan Gilbert’s Comic Sans letter to fans after “The Decision.”

“For me when I decided to go back and I talked to Mav and Rich and Randy and everybody, I had to let them know some people were on the fence,” James said. “Even my wife was like, my momma and my wife was like, ‘I’m not with that.’ My mom was definitely like, ‘We ain’t going back.’”

LeBron James on Warriors dynasty: 'If I become an owner, I'm going to try to sign everybody'

By Marla Ridenour Published: June 8, 2017

LeBron James has made no secret of the fact that ownership of an NBA team might be a goal when he leaves the game.

So with the Cavaliers down 3-0 to the Golden State Warriors going into Friday night’s Game 5 of the NBA Finals, James seems to have coped with the fact that he could be on the losing end of another dynasty.

“It’s just part of my calling to just go against teams in the midst of a dynasty,” James said Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena. “This has been the best team in our league the last three years. They won a championship, and last year it was the greatest regular-season team we had played, probably one of the best postseason teams that everybody's ever seen as well, but we were just able to overcome that. And they're playing like one of the best teams once again.

NBA Finals: Cavaliers turn attention to Game 4 as Warriors aim for a series sweep

By Michael Beaven Published: June 8, 2017

CLEVELAND: Within an hour after a tough loss on Wednesday in Game 3 of the 2017 NBA Finals, Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving faced the media feeling a little chilly.

“I apologize if I’m shivering,” Irving said as sat on the podium. “I just got out of the cold tub. So don’t think I’m like getting sensitive on you guys. Just pretty cold.”

Irving and LeBron James both gave valiant efforts, but the defending champion Cavs came up short in a 118-113 loss at Quicken Loans Arena to the Golden State Warriors, who are 15-0 in this years playoffs.

Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry combined to score the game’s final 11 points as the Cavs watched a 113-107 lead with 3:10 to go in the fourth quarter evaporate.
