Cavs' Dion Waiters does not make trip to Minneapolis for game against Timberwolves
Cavs rookie Dion Waiters did not fly with the team to Minneapolis for Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He remained in Cleveland for more treatment on his sprained left ankle.
Waiters has been listed as day to day since injuring the ankle on Saturday. This marks the third consecutive game he has missed with it.
Waiters left the arena following Wednesday's loss to the Chicago Bulls in a walking boot, but a team source said that was simply to immobilize the ankle. Coach Byron Scott said earlier this week that most of the swelling is out of the ankle, but Waiters is still in too much discomfort to play.
Waiters and Kyrie Irving, out with a fractured index finger, comprise about 40 percent of the Cavs' offense. The Cavs have lost seven of their last eight games.
