Cavs expected to sign Chris Quinn today
The Cavaliers are expected to sign guard Chris Quinn today, pending a physical, a league source confirmed. Quinn, 29, has bounced around the NBA with the Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets and San Antonio Spurs.
Quinn was averaging 12.7 points and 6.1 assists with the Tulsa 66ers of the Development League. He is expected to be in uniform tonight when the Cavs host the Heat. The roster now stands at 15.
The Cavs were forced fo fill their open roster spot when Dion Waiters was lost for at least a week with loose cartilage in his knee. Quinn, 6-foot-2, played at Dublin Coffman High School outside Columbus and attended Notre Dame.
He last played in the NBA in 2011 with the Spurs and spent a couple of years overseas before returning to the D-League this season. He appeared in 66 games for the Heat during the 2008-09 season, averaging 5.1 points and 2 assists. He has career averages of 4.6 points and 1.9 assists in 234 NBA games.
