Cavs fall to Knicks, who clinch playoff berth
The Cavs were held to one basket over the first 4:45 of the fourth quarter and the Knicks ended an 11-game losing streak against the Cavs with a 123-107 victory Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
The Cavs rallied from a 19-point deficit in the first half to make it a one-possession game late in the third quarter. They trailed 93-88 to start the fourth, then went cold from the floor and turned the ball over as the Knicks again took control.
J.J. Hickson had 23 points, Baron Davis had 22 and Alonzo Gee had 11 for the Cavs. Davis scored 11 straight points in the second quarter when the Cavs were down 19 to make a game of it. But the Knicks blew it open again in the fourth.
Amar'e Stoudemire had 28 points, Carmelo Anthony had 25 and Chauncey Billups had 23 for the Knicks, who clinched a playoff berth with the win. Billups had 17 of his points in the first quarter.
