Cavs hire Altman for front office role

By Jason Lloyd Published: August 15, 2012

Koby Altman has been hired as the Cavs' pro personnel manager, the team announced on Wednesday. Altman, 29, most recently served as an assistant coach at Columbia while leading its developmental basketball program.

Altman replaces Wes Wilcox in the Cavs' front office, although their roles aren't the same. In addition to his duties with the Cavs, Wilcox was also the Cavs Development League team's general manager. He left this summer to join Danny Ferry's staff in Atlanta. Altman will coordinate the team's domestic pro scouting.

Altman has also worked extensively with the USA Basketball program in the junior divisions as both a coach and coordinator.

Prior to Columbia, Altman coached at Southern Illinois and UMass. He was a three-year starter at point guard for Middlebury College (Vermont).
