Cavs' intrasquad scrimmage to be private event for military members only

By Jason Lloyd Published: September 12, 2013

The Cavaliers' annual Wine & Gold game will be open to current military members and their families this year and closed to the public. The first-ever "Hoops for the Troops" will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace.

The Cavs have toyed with the setup for the annual intrasquad game previously, hosting it at Rhodes Arena for a number of years before recently moving it back to Quicken Loans Arena and making it free to the public. This is the first time they've made it a private event. The team is working with the United Service Organization (USO) of Northern Ohio to coordinate ticket distribution.

The Cavaliers will provide a live stream of the scrimmage on for all fans interested in watching.
