Cavs will select fourth in NBA Draft
CLEVELAND: The Cavaliers will select fourth again in the June 28 NBA draft. They entered with the third-best odds of landing the top pick, but fell out of the lottery when their 13.8 percent chance at the top pick didn’t come through.
The Cavs won a coin flip with the New Orleans Hornets to have one extra selection in the lottery, but the Hornets ultimately were the big winners.
With 15-year-old Nick Gilbert back on the podium just as he was last year, the Cavs couldn’t recreate the magic that landed them the first and fourth overall picks in last year’s draft.
Interestingly enough, the Cavs picked fourth last year when their number combination wasn’t selected in the lottery. They won the lottery with a combination acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers’ pick.
Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis is the consensus to be chosen with the No. 1 pick, but there are still plenty of appealing options for the Cavaliers at No. 4.
Connecticut center Andre Drummond, Florida guard Bradley Beal and North Carolina forward Harrison Barnes are all options who could immediately fill big needs for the Cavaliers, who finished last season 21-45.
