Cavs win third straight, improve to .500 in 2013 with 119-108 victory over Magic
CLEVELAND: Kyrie Irving had 24 points and eight assists and the Cavs beat the Orlando Magic 119-108 Friday for their second three-game winning streak in three weeks.
The Cavs have won six of their last eight and are 9-9 in 2013.
The Cavs broke open a tight game by scoring 13 consecutive points to close the third quarter and begin the fourth. A 3-pointer from Wayne Ellington with 10:41 left gave the Cavs a 90-80 lead.
When the Magic trimmed that lead to 111-104 in the final minutes, Ellington responded with another 3-pointer and a dunk off a turnover to seal the victory.
The win snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Magic and extended their losing streak to 12 games, the longest current streak in the league.
Nikola Vucevic had a career-high 25 points and 13 rebounds, Andrew Nicholson fell a point shy of his career high with 21 points and the Magic shot 52 percent. But they turned it over 19 times and the Cavs made 28 more trips to the free-throw line than the Magic.
Mo Speights had 18 points off the bench (12 of 12 at the line), Tristan Thompson had 16 points, Dion Waiters had 15 points and Ellington had 14 for the Cavs, who host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.
