Cavs' Zeller returns to practice, Waiters still out sick
INDEPENDENCE: Tyler Zeller returned to Cavaliers practice on Tuesday 5 pounds lighter and still working to regain his strength, but is likely to play Wednesday when the Cavs host the Utah Jazz.
Zeller was flattened by a 48-hour flu bug that included a trip to the hospital, two IV bags and countless hours on the couch.
"I made it out of bed," Zeller said. "That's a victory for me today."
Scott said he thinks Zeller will be OK to play against the Jazz, although he'll likely be a little weak. Dion Waiters remains the bigger question.
Waiters caught the bug a day later, meaning tomorrow could be his first day out of bed. That makes playing against the Jazz a little trickier.
If Waiters can't play, Wayne Ellington would likely start again at shooting guard. Coach Byron Scott said the starting center job is still Zeller's despite Mo Speights' big first half in Monday's loss to the Knicks.
Speights made all 10 of his shots and scored 21 points in the first half, but missed all four of his attempts in the second half.
"I thought in the first half he was really focused and into it," Scott said. "And the second half, I thought he probably stayed in the locker room from a mental standpoint."
