All Cavs rookies under contract

The Cavaliers have signed first-round draft picks Anthony Bennett and Sergey Karasev and second-round pick Carrick Felix to contracts, the team announced Tuesday.

It's all a formality in the NBA because the rookie scale contracts dictate what teams can pay.

Kyrie Irving sidesteps questions about his future in Cleveland

INDEPENDENCE: Around the league, players refer to them as an “80 ball.” They are max contracts worth about $80 million over five years. John Wall has one now. Kyrie Irving might be next.

The Cavaliers can offer Irving a contract extension next summer, and provided he remains relatively healthy this season, they intend on making him a max offer. Now the market has been set by Wall, who was drafted No. 1 overall the year before Irving. Wall last month became the fifth point guard to sign a max contract, joining Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Deron Williams.

Cavs open regular season at home Oct. 30 vs. Nets

The Cavaliers open the regular season at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 30 and make nine appearances on national television.

LeBron James and the defending champion Miami Heat visit on Nov. 27 and March 18. The Los Angeles Clippers visit on Dec. 7, the Golden State Warriors come on Dec. 29, the Oklahoma City Thunder come on March 20 and the Houston Rockets play in Cleveland on March 22.

Cavs sign second-round pick Carrick Felix

The Cavaliers have signed second-round pick Carrick Felix to a four-year contract, a league source confirmed. The first two years on the deal are fully guaranteed. Hoopsworld was the first to report the signing.

Felix, taken 33rd overall out of Arizona State, averaged 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in five summer league games last month in Las Vegas. First-round picks Anthony Bennett and Sergei Karasev remain unsigned.
