Irving's MVP performance leaves LeBron James fumbling for words
Kyrie Irving's 34-point MVP performance in Friday's All-Star game was so dazzling, it left LeBron James fumbling for the right words. James inadvertanly started to call Irving a future Hall of Famer today before catching himself and calling him a future All-Star.
"He was amazing," James said today before All-Star practice. "He proved why he was supposed to be in that game, he proved why he's a future Hall, uh, All-Star. If he keeps on progressing as he is now, he'll be a future Hall of Famer as well."
James, who has two MVP awards of his own, said Irving's perfect 8-for-8 night shooting 3-pointers reminded him of the game four years ago when Daniel Gibson took home the MVP award of the Rookie/Sophomore game after making 11 3-pointers. James was in the crowd that night cheering on Gibson.
Now Irving has the rest of the league taking notice.
"I think he's great. He's got a great feel for the game, he's tremendously skilled athlete and really confident," Suns point guard Steve Nash said.
Added Spurs guard Tony Parker: "He's fearless. He's not afraid to go to the basket and he's in attack mode. He's aggressive."
