Kyrie Irving won't work out for NBA teams during the NBA Combine this week in Chicago, he confirmed Thursday morning. He is here simply for the medical tests and to prove his injured toe is 100 percent healthy. The workouts will come at a later date.
What won't happen is Irving signing with LeBron James' marketing firm, LRMR. In fact, according to Irving, it was never even close to happening despite reports to the contrary.
"CAA never officially recruited me. I was close with LeBron and a couple affiliates of CAA, but they never recruited me. That's completely false," Irving said. "The talks about me signing with CAA never came up when I was talking with (James)."
Irving's agent, Jeff Wechsler, handles all of his marketing as well.
As for his decision to come out, Irving says he never would've left Duke had he not been able to return for the three NCAA Tournament games. He said he wanted to prove to everyone his toe was completely healthy.
