Kyrie Irving second on NBA GM poll of breakout stars
Kyrie Irving ranked second behind Golden State's Klay Thompson in voting among all 30 NBA general managers as the player most likely to have a breakout season.
Irving finished tied with San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard. Three GMs each voted for Irving and Leonard, while four voted for Thompson.
The GMs predicted the Miami Heat to repeat as champs in the same poll and for LeBron James to repeat as MVP. The GMs have correctly predicted the NBA champ in six of the last 10 years.
Rookie Dion Waiters did not score favorably among rookies in the survey. He did not receive any votes for Rookie of the Year, for player who will be best in his class in five years or for rookie most likely to have success as a sleeper. He received one vote for most athletic rookie.
Anderson Varejao received a vote for both the league's toughest player and the player who makes the most of limited natural ability. Luke Walton received one vote for best active player who could make the best head coach one day.
