GQ writer J.R. Moehringer spent three weeks with LeBron James, including time prior to The Decision. The results are in the latest issue of GQ.
Among the highlights:
* James thinks it'd be "a great story" if he returned to the Cavaliers someday.
* He addresses the statement Dan Gilbert sent out shortly after The Decision. "I don’t think he ever cared about LeBron," James says of Gilbert. "My mother always told me: ‘You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You’ll get a good sense of their character.’ Me and my family have seen the character of that man.”
* James again makes clear he's from Akron, not Cleveland, going so far as to say he hated Cleveland growing up. "Clevelanders, because they were the bigger-city kids when we were growing up, looked down on us.… So we didn’t actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up. There’s a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day.”
* Five of the six teams that met with him over three days at IMG talked about winning. The exception? The Cavs, who talked about being home, even showing pictures of James' family.
