* Tonight starts a big road trip for the Cavs, who have some work to do if they're going to make the playoffs in the East. The first three stops on this trip are against the three worst teams in the West, but the Jazz are coming off a victory at home against the Thunder on Tuesday. Gordon Hayward had a career-high 37 points in that game, but he's a game-time decision tonight with a hip pointer.

* Tonight also marks the Cavs debut for Luol Deng, who will start immediately. Mike Brown said this morning he is planning on shaving a few minutes off Deng's average. Deng is consistently among the leaders in minutes played and averaged more than 37 this season with the Bulls. Brown is hoping to keep his minutes between 34 and 36 a game.

* Incidentally, as further proof you can bet on absolutely anything, the online gambling site Bovada has odds on Deng's production with the Cavs this season and his future plans. Bovada has set the over/under for how many points he'll average with the Cavs this season at 17. It is also giving 3/2 odds that Deng re-signs with the Cavs after the season. It has 1/2 odds he'll sign with any other team.

* And while we're on the topic of the trade, Bovada has picked the Miami Heat as the favorite for Andrew Bynum's landing spot (2/1), followed by the Clippers (5/2) and the Knicks (5/1). The Nets (11/2) are a distant fourth.

* Tonight is another return game for C.J. Miles, who spent his first seven seasons with the Jazz. Tonight is just his second trip back as a visitor, but it's still better than last year's initial return trip. "It’s not as jittery as it was last year," he said. "Last year you could say it was just a game, but now it really feels more like just a game. There’s not as much emotion tied to it." Miles is averaging 22 points and 5.3 rebounds in his last four games.

* Kyrie Irving is 26 points shy of 3,000 for his career. He's one of three players, joining Steph Curry and LeBron James, averaging at least 26 points and 6 assists this season.

* The Jazz have been playing better after an awful start when they lost their first eight games and 14 of their first 15. They have played .500 (11-11) since then.
