* Tyler Zeller will miss tonight's game with a concussion and fractured cheekbone and he seems unlikely for Friday's game at Phoenix, although the Cavs aren't giving a timeline yet for his return. 

* The timing of Zeller's injury is unfortunate for a couple of reasons: He was enjoying his best pro game when he caught an elbow from DeAndre Jordan on Monday, plus the Cavs could use his size tonight against Andrew Bogut. 

* Samardo Samuels will likely get the bulk of Zeller's minutes at both forward and center. Samuels has been used sparingly through the first couple of games and said today he is more focused on defense and rebounding than on offense. 

* The Warriors' David Lee and top reserve Jarrett Jack both missed shootaround this morning with flu-like symptoms. Their status won't be determined until closer to tipoff. If Lee can't go, Carl Landry will likley get the start in his place.

* Cavs coach Byron Scott said this morning that Landry is one of his biggest concerns with this game. Landry is averaging 16.5 points and 7 rebounds off the bench and Scott is concerned about the jolt he provides when he enters the game. The Cavs may be better off with Landry in the starting lineup, since Anderson Varejao plays with that type of energy. If Landry starts, most of his minutes will come while Varejao is on the floor. If Landry comes off the bench, the Cavs don't really have a reserve to match what he does.

* Zeller's injury will prevent a reunion with his old college teammate Harrison Barnes, the player most fans wanted the team to select over the summer. Of course, that was before Dion Waiters exploded for 28 points in Monday's win over the Clippers.

* While they don't play the same position, Waiters and Barnes will be linked throughout their careers  -- at least to most Cavs fans. Waiters' fast start to the season has people mentioning him with early Rookie of the Year consideration, which is a bit startling considering skeptics were criticizing him as a potential flop just a few weeks ago.

* Waiters has insisted for Weeks he was never bothered by all of the Barnes talk, but Scott thinks it motivates him to perform. "I really believe him when he says it doesn't bother him, but I know him enough to know that it does drive him," Scott said. "It motivates him to want to prove people wrong and make people say at the end of the day we did the right thing, we picked the right guy. From that aspect, anytime you can have something that motivates you like that, it's great for that individual."

* Scott called Waiters' 7 of 11 shooting performance Monday on 3-pointers a "once-in-a-lifetime type" of game. "I'm hoping and praying he doesn't think that's what it's going to be every night," Scott said. 

* Scott was livid Monday night when Waiters brought the ball up the floor to begin a possession in the fourth quarter, dribbled at the top of the 3-point line and hoisted an off-balance 3-pointer without letting anyone else touch the ball. Kyrie Irving walked over and said something to Irving and Scott did, too. "He turned around and looked at me and said, 'My fault coach.' He was a little bit too much on top of the world at that point," Scott said. "I was livid. We really wanted to run a high pick and roll to see if we could get him to the basket or get a better shot. He decided he was en fuego. He showed that it wasn't that much en fuego."

* One of the few criticisms of Waiters to this point has been his anxiousness on offense. Sometimes he initiates before guys are set or ready. The airball 3-pointer was a case of trying to do too much, but Scott said the coaches and players have talked to him about giving guys a chance to get set. He starts moving on pick-and-rolls too soon, for example, before a big can get his position. The result has been a couple of illegal screens that could've been avoided if Waiters just waited a second longer.

* The Warriors have won three straight in this series. The two teams met only once last season (in Cleveland) due to the lockout.
